Dear Garfield County Businesses:
We invite you to join the Rifle Garfield County Airport in welcoming QinetiQ to Garfield County. QinetiQ is the company from England bringing in a helicopter to conduct eight weeks of testing in a high altitude environment. They intend to bring in a crew of 20+ individuals to Garfield County from the middle of June through the middle of August.
The airport staff is creating a "welcome basket" of sorts for our British guests. All businesses, cities, towns and organizations in the area are invited to participate with us in this endeavor. You are invited to send promotional material and items (brochures, hats, shirts, mugs, key chains, etc.) that you wish to contribute. In addition, please submit any special discount rates on meals, drink specials, or recreational and or tourist discounted ticket prices that QinetiQ's crews may use when they visit your location.
To be included in the Rifle Airport's "welcome basket" please send 26 sets of promotional material, official coupons and or discount offers to the Rifle Garfield County Airport on or before June 10th, 2015.
If you have questions or would like clarification, please contact me at 970-625-1091, ext. 4118 or email me at
Thank you for your participation,
Brian Condie, C.M.

The Glenwood Springs Chamber Resort Association has joined 273 local, regional and state chambers of commerce who signed a letter urging Congress to resolve the impending insolvency of the federal Highway Trust Fund. Signers represent all 50 states and communities of all sizes to show overwhelming business support for infrastructure investment. We urge Congress to pass a long term federal transportation authorization bill this year. This is critical for our nation and particularly for Glenwood Springs and the state of Colorado which rely on the Interstate highway system.
Please contact your Congressman on this issue and let them know that we expect our highway infrastructure to be maintained.
Did you know – legally, the minimum age for a child to be left at home along in the state of Colorado is 12? But did you know that in the Roaring Fork School District 3,600 children are released at 1:30 on Wednesdays and have nowhere to go but home . . . alone. Parents often don’t have the flexibility to change work hours or leave early. We have a serious problem and you can help. Imagine a place where you inspire, educate and connect with these kids. That place is Enrichment Wednesdays. Become an Enrichment Wednesday Instructor and inspire a child and give a parent peace of mind. Classes can be in anything from the history of rock 'n roll to stamp collecting or Stocks 101. You pick! Volunteering is easy. Call Brian Berg at 970.309.1423. The influence you have on a child’s life is infinite.
The Glenwood Springs Chamber Resort Association was named 2013 Chamber of the Year by ACCE!
