The Glenwood Springs Chamber Resort Association is an award-winning chamber of commerce seeking a Vice-President of Tourism Marketing. Glenwood Springs is a community of 9,200 people which welcomes 2 million visitors annually. The Glenwood Springs Chamber Resort Association serves a client base of 800 local businesses and has a membership market penetration of 75%.
Recently named America’s “Most Fun Town” by Rand McNally/USA Today, Glenwood Springs is noted for world-class tourist attractions and unparalleled scenery and quality of life. It is also home to Colorado Mountain College and the prestigious Valley View Hospital regional medical center. The Rocky Mountains, Roaring Fork and Colorado Rivers, White River National Forest and numerous natural, cultural and physical amenities make the community a great place to live, work and play.
The individual we seek will serve on the staff of the resort association and through a collaborative approach work closely with the Glenwood Springs Tourism Promotion Board to produce and execute an annual marketing plan to implement the board’s strategies. Responsibilities include regular reporting on marketing initiatives, advertising placements and budget expenditures to provide transparency and board/community accountability.
It is the responsibility of the Vice President of Tourism Marketing to generate ideas for new marketing campaigns and to collaborate with tourism partners to participate in new packages and promotions. The VP of Tourism Marketing may work with appropriate vendors to create ads and sales collateral, place media buys and provide web-based marketing strategies and solutions. The successful candidate must also have the ability to handle day-to-day operations and decision-making, including: writing and sending e-newsletters; managing leads in a CRM database; organizing data and fulfilling vacation planner requests; updating and managing web content using the Drupal platform and HTML code; monitoring and renewing web domains; researching and updating seasonal package information in print and electronically; managing public relations and social media; responding to group and wedding leads; coordinating with professional event organizers; and attracting special events and promotions that will guarantee overnight visitors. Attendance at appropriate travel and tourism tradeshows and conferences may be required.
Because collaborative leadership is so critical to this position, a minimum of 5 years chamber of commerce or convention and visitor bureau experience is optimal.
