D.M. Neuman Construction chosen for televised renovation project
Glenwood Springs, CO--Reality TV has found Glenwood Springs and one lucky hotel is getting a facelift. On Monday, June 9 at 8pm, a Glenwood Springs hotel will be featured on the Travel Channel’s hit show,Hotel Impossible. Hotel Impossible is a reality television program from Travel Channel in which struggling hotels receive an extensive makeover by veteran hotel operator Anthony Melchiorri and his team. In true reality show fashion, Melchiorri is a sharp witted, direct host whose honesty can make viewers laugh and hoteliers cringe. His unique personality and expertise in the hotel industry drive viewers to watch Melchiorri, a veteran hotelier. Once Melchiorri selects a hotel, he secretly reviews it and identifies its biggest problems. Once physical, cosmetic and procedural problems are identified with the help of designer Blanche Garcia, Melchiorri employs a construction firm to carry out the renovations.
When Melchiorri takes on a hotel project, he has to be assured that the renovations can be completed quickly, and to his and Garcia’s specifications. For the Glenwood Springs project he selected D.M. Neuman Construction to complete the renovations within a four day period.
Jason Neuman co-owner of D.M. Neuman Construction said, “Getting selected by the Travel Channel to be a part of Hotel Impossible here in our home town was such a great experience. We were interviewed by the show’s designer about a month ahead of the show taping and were selected to be a part of the renovation side of the show. It was definitely a whirlwind experience – we completed about two weeks’ worth of work in four days’ time, working around the clock to get everything ready for the big reveal.”
The D.M. Neuman team has had to keep details of the hotel’s improvements a secret for the last six weeks in anticipation of Monday’s airing. “That had to be one of the most difficult parts of the entire deal. We’ve never worked on a project that required this level secrecy. It makes us even more excited to show everyone what we were able to accomplish in such a short amount of time,” said Neuman.
Once Neuman’s team finished the renovations, the improved areas were hidden from public view. Aside from the construction crew, only the hotel’s owners and the Travel TV production team have seen the changes.
The episode is expected to feature the hotel’s improvements as well as Glenwood Springs’ many attractions. Marianne Virgili, CEO of the Glenwood Springs Chamber Resort Association & Film Commission was thrilled when she heard the news of the show airing. “We’re always delighted when the Travel Channel comes to town, but this filming was especially gratifying because it represents a product that will benefit the hotel as well as earning coverage for the community. I think the Travel Channel crew was impressed by all Glenwood Springs has to offer.”
The episode will be shown on the Travel Channel at 8pm on Monday, June 9 and be available for viewing www.travelchannel.com/hotel-impossible after the initial television airing.
