 Sunlight Mountain Resort is tucked away about 10 miles south of Glenwood Springs, or a fifteen minute drive from downtown. For over forty years, Sunlight Mountain Resort has been a family and adventure ski destination—and since it’s not visible from the highways, lots of its fans think of it as an undiscovered secret, away from the crowds and the high prices of other Colorado ski resorts.
Three lifts take you to the top of Sunlight, where there are great views of Mt. Sopris and the West Elk range. Ute run, at 2.5 miles long, is one of the longest cruisers in the state. For experts, there’s Heathen, one of the steepest runs in the state with a 52 degree vertical pitch.
 Cross-country skiers can access 29 kilometers of free groomed trails. Snowshoeing is also a favorite at Sunlight via Babish Gulch Trail. Guided snowmobile tours are available.
Sunlight averages 250 inches of snow per year, has a vertical rise of 2010 feet, and covers 470 acres. More than half of its 67 trails are aimed at intermediate skiers and snowboarders.
The mountain offers one of the most inexpensive lift tickets in the state, at $48 for an adult day lift ticket.
